Transparency you can verify
Here you'll find proof, documents and clear rules: tree traceability, CO₂ methodology (with declared limitations) and guidelines for communicating correctly, without risky claims.
Traceability
Every adoption is linked to a specific tree (unique ID) and a dedicated page, so you can verify over time what you are supporting.
What you find on the tree page
- Unique tree ID
- Approximate map location (to protect the farmer and the site)
- Farmer / farm + territory context
- Work diary (main care/interventions)
- Periodic updates with photos and notes (without promising a fixed number)
- CO₂ estimate linked to methodology and limitations
Indicative position to protect the site. Technical details are available for authorised verifications.
Updates published periodically by the farmer according to AdoptItaly standards.
CO₂: methodology and limitations
First things first: clarity
We communicate estimated contributions linked to adopted trees, with declared methodology and explicit limitations. It is not a "promise" and it is not a neutrality claim.
How it works (explained simply)
- 1We start from real parameters (species, age/management, context)
- 2We calculate an estimated value with a range (not an "absolute" number)
- 3We apply a prudential approach (buffer), but without fixing a single value: the buffer and assumptions are always declared in the report
- 4Annual validation of methodology and data consistency checks
Independent verification
An independent agronomist annually validates the methodology and samples (where applicable), ensuring communication remains credible and defensible.
How to communicate it well
Estimated CO₂ absorption contribution associated with adoptions, calculated with declared methodology, range and prudential approach. Details and limitations in Transparency.
Supply chain: selected farmers, rules and audits
We work with farmers who accept minimum requirements and a code of conduct: traceability, correct practices, availability for reasonable audits.
Key points
- Content standards (photos/diary) and data consistency
- Sample audits and corrective action plans
- Rules to prevent "double promises" on the same impacts
Claims & communication
What NOT to say
- ✕"Carbon neutral / climate neutral" thanks to adoptions
- ✕"Zero impact", generic unverifiable "eco-friendly"
- ✕Absolute claims without methodology, scope and limitations
What you can say (safely)
- ✓"Estimated contribution" + range + link to Transparency
- ✓Specific and verifiable benefits (if measured and documented)
- ✓Linked SDGs, with scope and limitations (without generalising to the entire company)
Reports & documents
Annual report (companies only)
Complete reports (methodology, assumptions, range, buffer, scope) are available only for business clients, as they include operational details and dedicated data packages.
Downloadable documents (public)
Contracts
Terms of service (B2C)
This section explains what you purchase when you adopt a tree and what operational guarantees are in place.
What you purchase
- ✓Financial support to the farmer + AdoptItaly services (traceability, tree page, updates, management)
- ✓Access to the tree page and associated content
- ✓Any included benefits (e.g. product share or planned alternatives)
What you don't purchase
- ✕You do not purchase tradeable carbon credits
- ✕You do not purchase a guarantee of "certain" results (we speak of estimates, ranges, limitations)
"Tree replacement" policy
If a tree becomes unavailable for adoption (agronomic events, plant diseases, external causes), AdoptItaly manages continuity as follows:
Base rule: replacement
- ✓We propose an equivalent replacement tree (same species or similar category, same area or comparable zone)
- ✓We maintain continuity of experience (new tree ID, clearly visible history)
- ✓User notification via email/app with simple and transparent reason
What the user sees
- ✓A badge appears on the page: "Adoption migrated for replacement"
- ✓Link to the new tree's page
- ✓Accessible history (nothing "disappears")
Business contracts (B2B)
For companies and teams:
- ✓Project scope (which adoptions, how many trees, period)
- ✓Deliverables: annual report, CSR/ESG materials, claim guidelines
- ✓Permitted use of logo/assets and communication rules
- ✓Privacy / DPA agreement if processing employee data (optional)
